2-16-2010 A little over a year ago I was just a father that had a son in prison that had a burden for prisoners. My first contact with the prison system here at Franklin Correctional Institute near Carrabelle, Florida. I first was invited to speak to the inmate there and Chaplain Faulkenberry said that he wanted to find "my heart" for the prison ministry. After I spoke that first time I was hooked and have not let up. I have never been intimidated or felt threatened at all. I am so blessed to be a blessing in what I am doing now. My wife, Gloria has also become a large part of my mission by simply allowing me to be who I am and she supports me totally and fully in what I do.

I first began working with the inmates by getting involved with a program called "Celebrate Recovery" that the Carrabelle United Methodist Church runs, I worked with Pastor Julie Stephens at the church and also at Franklin Correctional and also Bay City Workcamp in Apalachicola. Today I am still handling the Celebrate Recovery program at Bay City, and occasionally at Franklin Correctional Institute but due to other duties I am not involved in it as much. As I look back God was using this as a training ground.

Presently I am teaching 3 classes at Franklin Correctional and they are "Faith and Finance", "Parenting", and finally "Anger Management". The curriculum that I use is mostly DVD and then we do a lot of dialogue but one of the things we are doing is using faith based materials. When I first started we were using secular materials but now we have replaced it with faith based. Faith and Finance is by Pastor Jack Glass, and Parenting and Anger Management are by Pastor Chip Ingram. Both excellent teachers.

In addition to this I took on the responsibility of Volunteer Chaplain and around the end of March I will be totally qualified to act as volunteer chaplain. In that capacity I am counseling, mentoring, doing visitations, and just about anything that God brings to me, to God be The Glory!

One of the things that I started with my first class was giving the ones that completed the class was a "Free On the Inside" NIV bible. I was able to do the first time with monies that had been donated and as I was putting my new classes together around the end of December I figured that I had to buy about 60 bibles and I was not sure about that, but Gloria said like she always does if you need them , get them!! I am sure that God uses her to confirm things for me. I went ahead and ordered them and the next day I received a $500.00 check in the mail from Good News Ministries...How Great is God? Judy had said that she wanted to sow into our work and that alone was encouragement to me.

Please keep the ministry in your prayers and this week the Chaplain and I started the Romans 12 program for our chapel orderlies and our praise and worship team. Chaplain Faulkenberry who is the Senior Chaplain has really been gracious to allow these things to spring up. God recently gave us a revelation that inside the prison we have over 1400 inmates, and over 300 staff members. We have 1 chapel, 3 chaplains, 20 orderlies. We present programs for Protestants, Catholics, Jehovah Witnesses, Hebrew Israelites, and also Muslim, and AA, plus Celebrate Recovery. In contrast Carrabelle, Florida has a population of 1303 and 10 major churches. What a harvest field!

Again I want to thank Judy and Good News Ministries for their help financially and spiritually. Over the years she and Good News Ministries has meant so much to Gloria and I.

God Bless You All, Danny

2-24-2010 Good Morning, Just wanted to check in and let you know what is happening with "insidethewalls'. I had a brand new challenge yesterday but Praise God, all went well. I went with the Chaplain to the infirmary and the nurse asked us to minister to an inmate that was there, she did not tell us the nature of the illness. We went and talked to the inmate and asked him if he was a man of faith and he
said yes, also he allowed us to pray with him. The Lord revealed to me what the illness was and that it was fatal, he is only 53 years old. I thank God for that appointment.

Soon I will be finishing up the classes on Faith and Finance, Parenting, and Anger Management. There will be about 32 graduating about the 1st week of March. Then we will start new classes, the end of March. Also we are going to be offering the classes at Bay City Work Camp beginning next month, please keep this in prayer.

February has been dedicated mostly to Black History month with many guest speakers and showing Black History movies and documentaries. Also the inmates presented a very effective skit called "Black In Time", very nicely done.

God Bless You and Yours, Danny
 "Romans Chapter 12"
God's Awesome Confirmation

2-28-2010 This is story about how we are using r12 at the Franklin Correctional Institution at Carrabelle, Fl and how God just confirmed that it is the right program for us.

The Senior Chaplain, Greg Faulkenberry, had given me permission to do a small study group with Chip's r12 material because we have had success using his other materials for Parenting and Anger Management small study groups.

On Saturday February 27, 2010 we had the First Session with 5 office orderlies and about 15 Praise and Worship team members, we are all very excited about starting the program and the Holy Spirit was moving mightily throughout the class. We were all sure that God wanted us to move in this direction but now God was going to confirm it to us in a mighty way.

Sunday February 28 we had a worship service at FCI and there were 2 volunteers that came to preach the morning service and I or the Senior Chaplain had not spoken to them about the r12 study. The preacher starting talking about a person "renewing his mind" and right away I leapt over to Romans 12:2, where it spoke of exactly that. Even  though he did not directly say Romans 12: 2, then almost immediately he told everyone to turn to Romans Chapter 12, and it was awesome because the whole r12 study group got the revelation at once that this was God confirming! Then he preached for several minutes from Romans 12.

I asked the Pastor after the service when he decided to speak on Romans 12 and he said about 3 days ago. So the Pastor got the Word the day before our first session and the that same Pastor confirmed it the day after our first session, that is so AWESOME to me!

Elevating People to Their Potential

The Chaplainry Department at Franklin C.I. just had their first official Re-Entry Graduation. Twenty one Inmates each graduated from three classes offered as a part of the Re-Entry program. Each class represents sixteen hours of intense study over a twelve week period (one semester).

Robert Jetton, Volunteer Chaplain opened the ceremony with prayer followed by two dynamic songs by the Chapel Music Team.

Warden Duffie Harrison was the Key Note Speaker, delivering a dynamic speech stressing the importance of Character. " Character can hide your weaknesses" said Warden Harrison.

Three Inmates who graduated from the classes gave touching testimonies about how the classes have impacted each one of them.

Dan Husk, Volunteer Chaplain spends several hours per week facilitating the Re-Entry classes at Franklin C.I. As he was flooded with applause for servitude, Chaplain Husk commented that he did not deserve the accolades given him, that, it is a team effort which makes a program like ours happen.

The graduates were presented with very nice certificates and Bibles followed by the benediction and cake.

Already, we have one hundred men on the waiting list for next semester's classes. We are excited as the graduation ceremony will include guest speaker, Isaac Williams and a brand new original Re-Entry play written by Franklin C.I. Chapel program. The play will Challenge inmates to make wise decisions that will lead to a successful future.

Franklin C.I. has an excellent religious program supported by two Volunteer Chaplain's, Robert Jetton and Dan Husk along with over one hundred Volunteers and excellent staff. Thanks to Ricky Cloud, AWP and Duffie Harrison, Warden for elevating people to their potential.

April 20, 2010 Hi Pastor Judy,

Well, today we started the 3 days of auditing by the "American Corrections Association" , they Accredit the prisons and they were very impressed with the chapel program. One of the ladies was so impressed that she took lots of notes on my curriculum and also asked to set in a session which I will do on Wednesday morning so I am asking you to pray for that.

Also the Chaplain has authorized me to take on 3 teacher-aides so my new "title-position" is Director of Re-Entry programs, I will actually have 3 aides that will help me by teaching/facilitating programs. I am starting one this week on Anger Management and next week plan to have one for Faith and Finance, we are looking at starting also programs on MARRIAGE and BIBLICAL HEALTH/HYGIENE.

Also at the Bay City Work Camp I will soon be finishing up Celebrate Recovery and also starting RE-ENTRY Classes there.

Tomorrow we are baptizing 13 in the chapel, pray for them also.

Now I know how Jabez felt!! Praise God!

As usual Gloria encourages me and totally supports me in more ways than one.

Thank You Jesus, Danny
